NEWS

April 2011

Here is an announcement pdf for the Textile Museum show I am in.

I created a pdf of the Spring 2011 Vogue Knitting Spotlight article for you all to read.

Some more fallout from Vogue Knitting Live! Lionbrand's Yarncraft podcast grabbed me for an interview at the event. The interview with me is from 33:20 - 37:20. (Lionbrand is my sponsor for my Tiger Pelt Project!)

Also Lela Nargi wrote on her blog about me, and will be publishing a full length interview for Twist Collective in the Fall.

Still getting ready for Berlin, and it looks like I am doing a residency in my hometown of Melbourne, Australia at the lovely artists colony of Montsalvat in August. Finally I get to go home and work on a project!!!

Dec 2010

I just had a meeting with the fabulous people at Vogue Knitting, they are including me in their Spring magazine edition where I will be featured on their 'Spotlight' page! vogueknitting.com

Also they invited me to participate in Vogue Knitting Live!  An international knitting extravaganza occurring at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, January 21 - 23, 2011.  I am to be included in their artist gallery and will be there working on my tiger pelts and talking to visitors throughout the weekend! vogueknittinglive.com  Be sure to check my blog as I bet I will have some stories and pictures to share!

Just to mention this briefly 'cos there will be more updates to come closer to the date, but my first solo museum exhibition will happen in 2012.  The University of Maine Museum of Art has invited me to exhibit my knitted pelts, which means lots of tigers and ocelots - April 5th - June 9th, 2012, here we come Bangor!! umma.umaine.edu

Also during that time period the Hunterdon Museum show that I was in last year got a very nice review in this Fall's edition of Surface Design Journal.

"The New Design Times" which is based out of Berlin, Germany released an interview with me by Leah Stuhltrager.  The article gives a different slant on my work and is an interesting read about my time at the Bronx Zoo and includes a description of the MAD Museum residency and also what it was like to visit Berlin during the late 1980's, the editors gave the go ahead to extend it to 900 words instead of the customary 500 'cos they really liked what Leah had done! new-design-times.com

THE FUTURE!!

Moving onto upcoming events........

-After the holidays I begin another residency at the Wave Hill Cultural Center here in the Bronx, it will last 5 weeks from January 10th - February 13th. I will also be conducting workshops there for advanced knitters on Jan 22nd, Jan 29th, & Feb13th. wavehill.org/home My Ocelots and Tiger pelts will be on exhibition for the first time!

-Lehman Art Gallery located at Lehman College, also in the Bronx, go Bronx!! just invited me for a fiber exhibition. It runs from February 8th - May 10th, I will have one of my Ocelots pelts on display! lehman.edu/vpadvance/artgallery/gallery

-Sometime this summer I will be off to Berlin, Germany for a residency with good ol' Dam, Stuhltrager Gallery and RS Projects, I really can't wait!! damstuhltrager.com & rsprojects.org

-There could also be exciting news with a well known knitting mag, but lets hold off until I know for sure!! Check back for details, and an update will be on view for sure!

Well my residency at MAD Museum, (the Museum of Art & design, NYC), has sadly ended, but I had a great time there and am still processing all the wonderful people and leads to follow up, thank-you to the Education Department for a fruitful, pleasurable and amazing experience!  Here is the profile that was written up for me on their website, and I have some pictures of an inside look into the studio to include on my events page.

Here are some pdfs of blogs and articles that were written about me during my open studios residency.
